Graduate / Intern Embedded Engineer
London, hybrid
Minimal is a London based technology company building a new way to move goods through cities. Intelligent and autonomous vehicles, the software that runs them, and the operations that deliver, all built by our small and agile team.
Everything happens in our West London micro-factory, where we assemble vehicles, develop software and build new tooling all at once. Nothing here is off limits. If you have an idea, a solution or a better way of working, build it. You’ll be working alongside people with a passion for what we’re building and have genuine enjoyment in the process of building it.
Embedded software development is changing. AI is a genuine step change in how vehicle software gets written, tested and shipped, and that's what we're building at Minimal: a new way to develop software for vehicles, vertically integrated from silicon to street. Our first product, Pedal 4, is already running with enterprise fleets. Join us early and you'll work on real vehicles that real people depend on.
What you'll do
- Write embedded C/C++ that ends up on a vehicle in the field
- Get hands-on with bring-up, debugging and test on real hardware
- Work across motor control, comms, sensing and vehicle behaviour
- Use the latest AI tooling from day one. You're joining at the point where the way this job is done is being rewritten
What you'll bring
- Some C or C++, and the appetite to get much better at it fast
- Evidence you like building things: a personal project, a robot, a Formula Student car, a synth, a drone, a thing that shouldn't have worked but did
- Curiosity about how the whole system fits together
- Studying or recently finished electronics, computer science, mechatronics, physics or similar. We care more about what you've made than what you've studied.
Nice to have (any of these) STM32 or similar MCUs · CAN bus · embedded Linux · motor control · Python · vision or ML · Git and CI
What you'll get
- Competitive salary
- Share options in a high-growth company
- Pension via salary sacrifice
- 30 days' holiday annually (inclusive of bank holidays), plus a two-week company shutdown over Christmas/New Year
- Training on our vehicles and battery systems, and time with the engineering team
- Tools and workshop provided
- Hybrid working: 4 days a week in our west London HQ
Why now Small team, short feedback loops, vehicles on the road. What you write here ships, and you'll see it running.
