Shop Floor Lead
London
Shop Floor Lead Minimal - Park Royal, London
Minimal is a London-based technology company creating a new way to move goods through cities: intelligent, autonomous vehicles, the software that runs them and the operations that deliver, all from one small, agile team.
Everything happens in our West London factory, where we assemble vehicles, develop software and make new tooling side by side. Nothing here is off-limits. If you have an idea, a solution or a better way of working, build it. You’ll be working alongside people who care about what we’re making and enjoy the process of getting there.
Every vehicle we’ve put on the road was designed and made by us in the factory: sub-assemblies, frames, drivetrains, final assembly and test. Now we’re putting together the team that will scale production. We need a Shop Floor Lead to run the factory floor day to day, keeping production moving, the team supported and the facility in shape as we grow.
What you’ll do
- Own the day to day running of the factory, keeping production on track
- Plan and allocate workload across the line, balancing build targets, priorities and people
- Support hiring, from defining roles and interviewing to onboarding and training new starters
- Manage facility maintenance, equipment servicing and calibration, and contractors on site
- Lead health and safety on the shop floor: risk assessments, PPE, training records and a clean, organised workshop
- Manage stock, consumables and tooling, keeping the line supplied without overstocking
- Track output, downtime and issues, and work with engineering to resolve blockers fast
What you’ll bring
- Experience running or supervising a workshop, production line or similar hands-on environment
- Strong planning and organisational skills, comfortable juggling competing priorities
- Experience leading, developing and supporting technicians or operators
- Working knowledge of health and safety in a manufacturing environment
- A practical, hands-on approach. You’re happy to pick up a spanner when the line needs it
- The drive to continuously interrogate how we do things, iterate and improve
- Experience with ERP, MES or stock management systems
Nice to have (any of these) IOSH / NEBOSH · Vehicle, bike or EV assembly · Lean / 5S · Facilities or building management · Electrical or battery safety awareness · Recruitment experience · Supplier and contractor management · Basic Coding
What you’ll get
- Competitive salary
- Share options in a high-growth company
- Pension via salary sacrifice
- 30 days’ holiday annually (inclusive of bank holidays), plus a two-week company shutdown over Christmas/New Year
- Training on our vehicles and battery systems, and time with the engineering team
- Tools and workshop provided
- 5 days a week in our west London HQ
Why now The factory is growing and the way we run it is still being written. Now’s the time to shape how the workshop operates. Your changes will be implemented in days.
